Our mission is to facilitate personal growth and insight, as well as collective change, in ways that improve people’s intercultural capacity and their efforts at bridging cultural differences. We achieve this through the application of the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) and the training and support of IDI Qualified Administrators.

Our Team

Our team of dedicated professionals is here to guide you on your IDI journey. We offer resources and assistance to help you in determining the most effective approach to bring the IDI to your organization or clients; training to administer the IDI and provide individual, group, and organization-wide results; and on-going workshops and other support to licensed IDI Qualified Administrators.

IDI, LLC

IDI, LLC was founded in 1998 by Dr. Mitchell R. Hammer with the goal of adapting the Intercultural Development Continuum framework into an assessment that introduced a developmental approach to the field of cross-cultural communication, and helped practitioners and educators answer the question “How do individuals experience cultural difference?”. The first IDI Qualifying Seminar to train administers of the IDI was held in 1998 in Portland, OR. The first Private Qualifying Seminar for an organization was held in 2004. To date there have been hundreds of Qualifying Seminars and there are over 11,000 licensed QAs in more than 60 countries worldwide.

The IDI began as a paper only assessment until it was first offered online in 2009. Since 2015, the IDI has been offered exclusively online and QAs can access and manage IDI results in their own personal accounts. In 2013, Intercultural Development Plans (IDPs) for individuals were introduced as a resource to provide a clear roadmap for IDI respondents to continue their development independently, further increasing access to and opportunity for growth. Today, IDI, LLC’s focus is to cultivate continued development of knowledgeable IDI Qualified Administrators through a variety of learning opportunities from the experienced IDI community and IDI, LLC staff.

IDI, LLC is a division of Hammer Holdings, Inc., a company that also includes ICS Inventory, LLC — offering the Intercultural Conflict Style® (ICS®) Inventory. These two companies offer unique products, services, and visionary solutions for the advancement of cultural competence and intercultural conflict resolution.

Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory® (ICS®)

The Intercultural Conflict Style® (ICS®) Inventory is an excellent cross culturally valid assessment for helping individuals and groups to better understand their approach to conflict, improve communication, and resolve conflict across cultural differences. The ICS can be used in conjunction with the IDI or as a standalone tool.
