About

Dr. Maeker is an IDI Qualified Administrator and an IDI Qualifying Seminar Instructor. Akiko works with individuals, teams, and organizations in corporate, education, government, and nonprofit settings. Her expertise includes executive coaching, emotional intelligence development, intercultural team-building, and strategic advising for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Akiko brings a strong knowledge basis as well as dynamic and affirming facilitation skills. She is valued by her clients for engaging them in thoughtful and powerful learning that aims to maximize potential and live and work within global and domestic diversity. Akiko is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) trained coach and an Emotional Intelligence and Diversity Institute certified trainer. She holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership Policy and Development, with a research focus around intercultural competence and professional coaching. 

Born and raised in Japan, Akiko currently lives in Minnesota, USA with her husband Paul, who is a longtime IDI Qualified Administrator. She enjoys making frequent trips to Japan and visiting her family and friends.
