About

Dr. Kirksy is an IDI Qualified Administrator and an IDI Qualifying Seminar Instructor. He has over 22 years of professional experience in higher education working in student affairs. Mylon received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Public Relations, his Masters of Communication and Information Studies in Organizational Communication, and his Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Administration. He is the founder and chief operations officer of Sidebar Education Consulting Group, LLC. He also serves as the assistant vice president for Residence Life for the University of Texas at Austin and holds the rank of assistant professor of practice in the College of Education and in the College of Liberal Arts.  

Dr. Kirksy has been working with the IDI since 2008 and has been using the IDI in developing and assessing co-curricular experiential learning programs and academic courses using a pre-post assessment design.  Through these experiences hundreds of students have significantly increased their intercultural competency in 10-15 weeks.  Dr. Kirksy also provides personalized leadership coaching and consults with dozens of institutions and companies on how to improve organizational, team and individual outcomes related to intercultural competency and effectiveness.
