Mylon Jamar Kirksy, Ed.D., is an IDI Qualified Administrator and an IDI Qualifying Seminar Instructor. Dr. Kirksy has over 17 years of professional experience in higher education working in a number of student affairs areas, such as residence life, Greek life, and housing. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Public Relations from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. His Master of Communication and Information Studies degree was received from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Additionally, he received his Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
Dr. Kirksy is currently the director of Residence Life for the department of University Housing and Dining and an assistant professor of practice in the Educational Leadership and Policy department at the University of Texas at Austin. His areas of expertise are in learning assessment, program assessment and evaluation, staff development and training, intercultural competency development, and organizational development, research, assessment, and evaluation. He is also a certified behavioral-based interviewer. In 2013, Dr. Kirksy co-founded Sidebar Education Consulting Group, LLC and serves as the company’s Founder and Chief Operations Officer.
Dr. Kirksy’s professional affiliations are with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I). In 2007, Dr. Kirksy received the NASPA Region VI Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award for outstanding commitment to the profession and contributions to the development of programs that promote student learning and personal development. In 2014, Dr. Kirksy was honored with a membership into the Global Directory of Who’s Who Among Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs.
