About
Most of my life has been lived in settings where intercultural communication is the norm, but ironically I grew up in one of the least diverse states in the USA. In the past I have served as the president of my university's "International Club" where I often was a cultural troubleshooter and mediator of communication problems, and I have served as a supervisor of diverse multicultural teams. I have dedicated my life to using language education as a means to introduce students to concepts from intercultural communication, and I love creating opportunities for people to interact with others who are different from themselves. I have lived 30 years in various parts of Japan. I have also lived a short time in Morocco, where I also taught English as an intern for my Master's degree (MA in Teaching from the School for International Training). I also taught Japanese to junior and senior high school students in the USA as part of the program offered by Concordia Language Villages.
